Maine Long-Term Care is looking for volunteers! Volunteer Ombudsman Representatives are advocates who provide a voice for the concerns of long-term care residents who are living in a nursing home, residential care or assisted living. Our volunteers hail from all walks of life — the common thread is they all want to help improve the quality of life for older adults and adults with disabilities receiving long-term care services.

Discover Maine Magazine is looking for a reliable person with a flexible schedule to distribute magazines.
They publish 8 issues per year to be distributed. Distribution requires being on the road for 2-3 weeks at a time, throughout all parts of the state throughout the year. We provide hotel/motel lodging, $200 allowance per trip, company vehicle with EZ pass provided, gas reimbursed. AARP FOUNDATION TAX-AIDE VOLUNTEER
Help Those in Need Get Their Taxes Done for Free
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is in need of Volunteers. AARP offers free tax assistance to those who need it most: people 50 years of age and older; community members who may have disabilities; and individuals and families generally earning $60,000 or less.
AARP is looking for friendly individuals to join them for the upcoming tax season to work as volunteers at Tax-Aide sites in communities across Maine. AARP provides training, and schedules are flexible. You do not need to be an AARP member to volunteer.

Volunteer positions needed are:
- Client Facilitators: Greet taxpayer and help organize their paperwork.
- Tax Counselors: Prepare and file taxpayers’ returns online to reduce the burden and stress of their doing their own taxes. We provide training, computers, and software.
- Other roles: Schedule appointments, or help with training and technology.

Meals On Wheels
Meals on Wheels primarily provides nutritious meals, a quick safety check and much-needed human connection to homebound seniors age 60 and over. Meals on Wheels is supplied to communities throughout Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Somerset, and Waldo Counties, plus the towns of Harpswell and Brunswick in Cumberland County. AniMeals
Meals on Wheels for Pets The AniMeals program began about 10 years ago after learning that some seniors did not have enough money to feed their pets and were sharing their Meals on Wheels.

Bath-Brunswick Respite Care
This facility is located in Bath and serving the MidCoast Maine area, offers an adult day program for individuals experiencing memory issues. Our services help seniors remain in their homes by providing their caregivers with the time they need to take care of errands, get some rest, and re-energize while their loved ones spend joyful time at “The Club”, socializing, singing, exercising, doing crafts, and playing games in a beautiful setting. Volunteers are the heart of our program. We invite you to spend a small part of your retirement doing something that will bring you joy and provide immense support to your community. The Gathering Place
This organization is located in Brunswick, is a drop-in day center for people who live alone or are experiencing homelessness, seniors on fixed income, and others seeking a place to fill lonely daytime hours with positive energy and a sense of community. Volunteers at TGP respectfully engage with our guests while serving refreshments, sorting through donations, and otherwise helping to maintain a welcoming atmosphere. ALL ABOARD!! Join The Volunteer Crew At The Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad!
Retired and looking for a fun and useful way to fill up a few hours a week? Do you enjoy trains or history and like chatting with people?
Then come enjoy the view of Casco Bay this summer and join the volunteer team at the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad. MNGRR volunteers operate the trains and share Maine’s unique railroad history with visitors from around the world as docents. Experience the excitement of running and riding on a real two-foot gauge train along beautiful Casco Bay in Portland. We will provide parking and all the necessary training for the positions. Volunteers should be physically able and commit to half a day or a full day of service. Maine CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate)
Maine CASA is in need of volunteers to be guardians ad litem (GALs) in Maine child protection cases in District Court. A child protection case begins when it is alleged that a child has been abused or neglected. CASAs advocate for the best interests of children in need, and are the voice of the child in the courtroom. Maine CASA provides a free, four-day training to CASA volunteers. The foundation of a CASA’s work is learning about the case, meeting with the child, and then advising the court what the CASA believes is in the child’s best interest. CASAs come from a wide variety of professional and personal backgrounds and are guided throughout the process by CASA program staff.
Volunteers must be 21 years of age with a high school diploma or GED, complete the Maine CASA application with three references, submit to criminal and DHHS background check and participate in the Maine CASA’s certification training.

Just one hour a week is all it takes to promote literacy. If you are interested, please contact the BookReach Volunteer Reading Program. We serve children through age 5 in daycares throughout Lewiston, Auburn and Minot.
Reading aloud with children is an important part of developing early reading skills. You can be a part of helping children develop a love of reading and help set the stage for their future success! BookReach is an early literacy program of the Lewiston and Auburn Public Libraries.

We are looking for volunteers, 55+, to serve as a tutor/mentor to children from pre-k to high school age. Volunteers are placed in public or non-profit facilities such as schools and Head Starts.
