Diane Bailey, Executive Director


Diane comes to MAR after a 40+ year career in State Government working in agencies including Transportation, Education, Corrections, Professional & Financial Regulation, Office of Employees Health & Benefits, Department of Health & Human Services and Dirigo. She is especially knowledgeable about health, dental and drug insurance issues. Diane and her husband Norman live in N. Vassalboro where she raises and shows cattle at agricultural fairs, likes to garden, golf, snowshoe and x-country ski.

Joan Hanscom, Operations Manager


Joan is a recent retiree from the State of Maine after working for the State of Maine for over 12 years. She was the Supervisor of Employee Health & Benefits where she oversaw the work of 6 Benefits Specialists. Joan is a licensed Health & Life Agent and has several Human Resources Certifications. She has extensive knowledge regarding retirements, health, dental and vision insurance programs. Joan enjoys working with retirees and has a strong Customer Service Background. Joan enjoys cooking, gardening, reading, volunteering and spending time with her family at her camp. She looks forward to working with our members.

Patty Castonguay, Finance Coordinator


Patty is now the coordinator of MAR's fiscal activities. She retired several years ago from a long career as a Personnel Officer with the Department of Transportation. She and her husband Gerry live in Augusta. She likes to play cards, and in the summer, she enjoys her "dream job" working in the store/office at the Augusta West Kampground in Winthrop.

Kim Pierce, Recruitment and Research Coordinator 


Kim has been hired as MAR's Recruitment and Research Coordinator.   She has extensive experience in Human Resource Management for Maine State Government and also as former Human Resource Director of the Maine Veteran's Homes.  Additionally Kim owned and operated a small business.  In 2019, she worked temporarily at MAR giving her an in-depth understanding of the organization and its members.  Kim lives in Gardiner and has adorable twin grandchildren, Madison and Connor.

Becky Thayer, Benefit and Members Coordinator


Becky previously worked as the Human Resources Manager at the Maine Veteran’s Home in Augusta. Prior to that position, she worked in the Human Resources and Payroll Office at the Augusta School Department. Becky has many years of benefits’ experience and is a valued employee addition to MAR’s team in providing essential services to public service retirees.

Jeanette Chartier, Benefit and Members Coordinator


Jeanette has been hired as a Benefits and Membership Coordinator at MAR.  Jeanette brings many years of customer service experience.  She enjoys engaging with people and looks forward to meeting MAR members.  Also, Jeanette has owned a couple of businesses.  She has great customer service skills, is adaptable, dependable and brings a can-do attitude to the position.  Jeanette lives in Gardiner and enjoys spending time with her family, sewing and just enjoying life.

Brent Wadleigh, Technical Support Coordinator

Brent is the Technical support coordinator for MAR. He can handle any technical problem you have with your phone, laptop, tv, or other smart device. His hours are 8:30-3:30 Monday-Thursday. Brent enjoys hiking, technology, AI, and getting to know our members. "No problem is ever too small, just ask!"
